Interview with Life After Football (English)
I had an in-depth conversation with Noah Stengaard Kapell from Life After Football about the first three stories in the book. We discussed the DNA of FC St. Pauli, the parallel universe football offers to refugees, and how clubs can literally show leadership in fighting racism on and off the pitch.

Review in Panenka Magazine (Dutch)
A nice review appeared in this Dutch football culture magazine. Thanks, Peter Möhlmann!

‘El Gran Cambio de Cruyff’ in Líbero (Spanish)
The Spanish football magazine Líbero dedicated a special issue to ‘Ten Years Without Johan Cruyff.’ I’m honoured that Líbero’s Diego Barcala included a shortened version of my story about Cruyff’s years in the USA in this collector’s edition.

‘The Real Turn’ in The Blizzard (English)
The quarterly magazine The Blizzard – “Football writing for the thinking fan” – published one of the stories from Eleven Beautiful Goals: ‘The Real Turn’.

Interview with SportLesvos (Greek)
One of the stories in Eleven Beautiful Goals features a remarkable, little-known hero: George Patlakas. I wrote it after visiting Lesbos. Following the book’s release, SportLesvos editor-in-chief George Marmalakas interviewed me about football’s power to change lives and relationships.

Podcast: Reinventing Finance (English)
At first, it might seem unusual to discuss football on a podcast called Reinventing Finance—but it makes perfect sense. Financial institutions sponsor clubs, leagues, associations, events, and players, representing billions of euros in total. Together with Nick Sühr and Ron Engel, I explored how sponsors can use their investments in football to dramatically boost their social impact—and perhaps even reinvent both football and finance.

Podcast: Herrie in de Slachtstraat (Dutch)
Hosted by the eminent Harry van Dam, this lively discussion featured, among others, FC Utrecht club-owner Frans van Seumeren. We talked about the problems caused by certain so-called fans, the club’s social role, its many community activities, and how to raise the visibility and impact of these efforts.

Interview with Homeless World Cup (English)
I first met Homeless World Cup founder Mel Young in 2014 and was immediately struck by the concept and its impact. I attended the Oslo 2025 tournament, and in this interview with HWC’s Matthew Williams, we reflected on the most powerful moments and on football’s role as one of the most effective tools for social change.

Interview with Algemeen Dagblad (Dutch)
I really enjoyed speaking with Matthijs Daniels right after the launch event of Eleven Beautiful Goals.
